In December of 2006, Tony Myles became the lead pastor of Connection Church.
Originally from Chicago, Tony and his wife Katie moved from Michigan with their two boys (and very neurotic dog) to join into the great things God was up to in the region. The church opened its arms to the Myles family, and the Myles family found it easy to do the same. Along the way of praying together, fresh ideas began unfolding that we've been after in order to please God's heart and make a practical impact locally/globally for Jesus.
One of these shifts is a missional network that we're always developing to strategically join with others who provide practical care and compassion in church-forsaken environments. We've provided food, medicine, and education for orphaned children in Zambia, supplied groceries for the
county, started a food pantry, collected Bibles for the county jail, helped with Project LEARN, strengthened care for the homeless in Cleveland, and forged a partnership with churches in Nairobi that are making a big impact. Ultimately, though, our story remains an open book to whatever God wants to write in it. We're not easily labeled because we're always opening ourselves to Him, convinced that style doesn't matter but people and God absolutely do. As this rag-tag congregation keeps taking new steps of maturity, we've discovered that we want to love people like Jesus does. That's why it's exciting to learn that our presence in the community is gaining credibility as we endeavor to not just "go to church" but to truly BE the Church. |
