Abilities are natural or developed skills that you possess because you learned them, earned them, or were naturally inclined to excel at them. For some, it's athletic prowess or the abiity to cook amazing food; for others, it's the resources of finances or things that you manage. We see this in the life of a young boy named David who used his abiities of protecting sheep to take out a giant named Goliath... or in the jar of perfume that a woman poured at the feet of Jesus as an act of worship.

Why use your abilities for God?

  • It's God's plan for our lives (Ephesians 2:10)
  • Jesus did, and we are to imitate Him (1 John 2:6)
  • Your life will be the most fulfilling (John 10:10) .

It's actually a mutually satisfying action when you use your abilities for God. Without God, abilities are just temporary talents and skills - with God, abilities make a lasting impact on people and the world.

Let God know you’re ready/willing, but be prepared for some giant opposition. A lot of people around you will not like the selfless direction you're choosing by giving your best and doing your best for Him. Nonetheless, have faith that God can use your ability.

"Saul answered, ‘You can’t go out against this Philistine and fight him. You’re only a boy. Goliath has been a warrior since he was a young man.’ But David said to Saul, “I, your servant, have been keeping my father’s sheep. When a lion or bear came and took a sheep from the flock, I would chase it. I would attack it and save the sheep from its mouth. When it attacked me, I caught it by it’s fur and hit it and killed it. I have killed a lion and a bear! This Philistine (Goliath) will be like one of them.”
-1 Samuel 17:32-37

“There are different abilities to perform service...“
- 1 Corinthians 12:6
