Remember the Buddy System? Maybe you experienced this when you were a kid and wanted to go swimming in a lake - there was that really good idea that you needed a buddy and had to stay together the entire time you were in the water. If you lost your buddy, you were to tell the lifeguard so he could blow the whistle, clear the beach, and launch a massive search and rescue until until your buddy was found.

The Buddy System was a great way to make sure that no one slipped under unnoticed. After all, swimming on your own in tough waters is dangerous... but together we could watch out for one another and maxmize the joy.

Wouldn't it be great if we had a Buddy System for life?

That's what LIFE Groups are all about - a practical way for us to do life together and feel supported while swimming through the tough waters of life. As hard as we may try to live in our own power and opinions, we all bump into the need for others who can help us reconnect with what's really going on in our lives. Jesus created His Church to be just that, and LIFE Groups are one core way we are attempting to put it all together. By forming healthy friendships, our friendship can begin to form us in healthy ways.

Maybe this is the very Buddy System we all need...
because we were never created to do life alone.

The idea is simple. Picture a group of individuals joining together around a shared interest or through a common neighborhood and beginning to develop relationships that encourage each other forward in their faith and lives.

Each LIFE Group is different, and yet all seek to provide an environment where we can all belong, ask questions, offer ideas, build friendships, receive prayer, and even have fun. Groups will get together for everything from cookouts, picnics, ball games and anything else that sounds good. In addition, every semester participants are encouraged to do a service project together to keep the focus beyond ourselves.

When and where do LIFE Groups meet?
LIFE Groups meet on various days and nights of the week in homes throughout the community, with many taking place on Sunday nights. Each group has a facilitator/leader who may also provide the host home for the gathering, so locations vary each semester.
New groups form as needed throughout the year.

Why should I be a part of a LIFE Group?
God created us for community, and yet often we feel left to figure out life alone. Connecting with others won't happen without some intentional effort on each of our parts, though, and so have structured LIFE Groups to
be a tool and means for you to make friends while
growing in your faith (and having fun doing it).

What about childcare?
We leave it up to each family to work out their own childcare. Sometimes it works best for families to share a sitter or to swap childcare with another family whose group meets on a different evening or time. Another suggestion would be to have a babysitter at the host home that all the parents chip in on.

What will we do in a LIFE Group?
Every few months we will begin a new semester for LIFE Groups with several suggested options for participants to choose from. While some groups may opt for more of a biblical study, others may choose to engage over topical issues that explore practical issues from a godly perspective. Ideas will be available through the facilitator/leader as will our Sunday services.
